Background of this research is the fact that peer is an attachment figure to teenagers at class XII SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung. The accomplishment of autonomy is a developmental task that has to be fulfilled by teenagers to enter adulthood. Stepping in into adolescent, individual starts to form a tighter relationship with his/her peer compared to prevous developmental stage. This close relationship with peers is attachment relationship. Then, autonomy can develop when teenager interacts with their peer. The purpose of this research is to understand general description of peer attachment level and teenager's autonomy level, and also to explore whether or not there is a significant relationship between peer attachment and autonomy of teenagers at class XII SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung of the academic year 2009/2010. The research used quantitative approach with co relational technique. Sample of this research is 70 people. Sampling technique used is cluster sampling. Instrument of peer attachment is IPPA-Revised (Inventory of Parent & Peer Attachment) by Armsden & Greenberg. Instrument of teenager's autonomy is made by Stani based on Steinberg's teenager's autonomy theory. Hypothesis is examined with parametric statistic called product moment using SPSS 17.0. Data analysis shows that r Count (0,132) < r Table (0,235) therefore Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected. Thus, there is ni significant relationship between peer attachment and autonomy at teenagers at class XII in SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung of the academic year 2009/2010. The school official is recommended to provide service and guidance for the students in order to increase positive assessment to their peer and improve autonomy. Future researchers are hoped to do similar research on different population with different or similar characteristic of sample at larger sample so the result of the research can be generalized. Besides that, next research is suggested to use different method and examine another variables related to peer pressure and indendence.
