The icon showed on television and magazine defines beauty as tall, white-skin, long-hair, and slim, or sometimes extremely thin. Teenage girls who consider this icon as a vital information source to define and to get perfect body will be easier to feel dissatisfied with their body. One of the teenage groups that has advanced attention to becoming thin is a teenage who belongs to a cheerleading group. This is because cheerleaders usually wear uniform that probably increase body awareness and desire to be thin. According to the explanation above, a reasearch has been conducted to reveal realtionship between media exposure regarding women's ideal body concept and body dissatisfaction on cheerleaders. The research is held using quantitative approach and descriptive method with corelational technique. Samples of this research are 38 cheerleading members of SMA Negeri 5 Kota Bandung. Sampling technique used is purposive sampling. Data analysis is done using parametric statistic called Product Moment corelation through SPSS 17.0 software. Data is obtained using two questionnaires: media exposure questionnaire and body shape questionnaire. Result shows that there is significant correlation between media exposure regarding women's ideal body concept and body dissatisfaction on cheerleaders with coefficient of correlation at -0.403 and significance at 0.012. Therefore alternative hypothesis (Ha) formulated in this research is empirically accepted. The school is recommended to provide supervision and deeper guidance towards cheerleading extracurricular and offer special counseling for teenage girls. Future researches are hoped to do more comprehensive research by adding number of respondents, by using respondents with different characteristic, by using different method, and by adding another variables related to media exposure and body dissatisfaction.
