Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh aplikasi pupuk terhadap
beberapa varietas cabai merah (Capsicum annum L.) dengan metode
hidroponik, yang dilakukan di rumah kassa Fakultas Pertanian Universitas
Sumatera Utara Medan, dari bulan November 2005 sampai dengan Mei 2006.
Percobaan ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan
tiga ulangan. Varietas cabai yang diuji adalah King, Hot Start, dan
Taro, dengan taraf konsentrasi pupuk NPK (15 - 15 - 15), P1> 1 g/l,
P2= 2 gil, P3= 3 g/l. Media yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah
pasir dan arang sekam padi (1:1). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa
respon varietas berbeda nyata terhadap parameter tinggi tanaman, jumlah
cabang, jumlah bunga, jumlah buah,bobot buah/tanaman, dan panjang buah.
Respon larutan nutrisi belum berbeda nyata terhadap semua parameter
pengamatan dan interaksi antara varietas dengan larutan nutrisi juga
belum berbeda nyata terhadap cemua parameter pengamatan. Hasil
penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Varietas yang terbaik adalah varietas Taro.
The purpose of the research was to examine the effect of fertilizer
application of some chilli varieties in the hydroponic media. The
research was conducted on to November to May 2006 in a screen house, in
this, experiment used Randomized Block Design with two factors is used
where the first factor (V) was three varieties of Capsicum annum L. and
the second factor (P) was the fertilizer formulation. The three
varieties of the Capsicum annum were King (V1), Hot Start (V2), and Taro
(V3). The fertilizer formulation was devided into three levels, which
were 1 g/l (P1), 2 g/l (P2), and 3 g/l (P3). Sand and rice hull charcoal
were used as growth media (1:1). The result showed that the respons of
the varieties were significantly different from height of plant, the
number of branches, the number of flowers, the number of fruits, weight
of fruits, the length of fruits. The respons of nutritional solution and
the interaction of the varieties to the nutritional solution have not
been significanly different yet from all observational parameters. The
result showed that Taro variety was best varieties than other varieties.
